Am I alone in finding this video rather creepy and the overall tone not only sinister but pretty depraved..?
Her message to "her public" seems to be I am sophisticated but you lot aren't so I'm going to teach you about something you know very little, if anything, about. When actually we all do know about S&M and know we don't like it!
Some of the shots make her look really good. But the overall shadowiness I find quite spooky. Not "erotic" at all.
And the words of her song "erotic, erotic ~ put your hands all over my body" ~ basically a very teenage expression of sentiments clash with the rest of her purportedly sophisicated song... "I don't think you know what pain is; I don't think you've gone that way" ... etc.
I'd be intrigued to hear anybody else's critique of this vid.
I put this here rather than in my musical collection as the musical interest to this is minimal. It's with this video that Madonna's career took a nosedive in the early 1990s. She seems to be sneering at her public: if you're not into all this you're bourgeois and boring. Actually the three fingers were pointing right back because we'd all got bored of her!

I disagree. I loved this period of her carreer, it is was her cross over from bubble gum to something much more substantive. "Erotica" is my second favorite album of her 25 year carreer.
Just my humble opinion.
tell ya the truth.
i liked this song :)
